Francesc Badia
Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time (B)
Gospel text
Jn 6,1-15
When Jesus raised his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, “Where can we buy enough food for them to eat?”
Gospel's Commentary
Today we marvel at the tenderness and imagination of God for the heart of Jesus sees the hunger of those people. There are many, many thousands. It does not matter: Jesus is God! Before his tenderness no need goes unnoticed; in his imagination, nothing is impossible. With a few loaves of bread and a couple of fishes, the Lord made many people happy (5,000 men plus their respective families). -A short time later Jesus instituted the Eucharist. With it God has been satisfying "tons" of hunger to millions and millions of souls for centuries and centuries. Nothing like that has ever seen!
