Francesc Badia
Saturday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 12:14-21
The Pharisees went out and took counsel against Jesus to put him to death. When Jesus realized this, he withdrew from that place. Many people followed him, and he cured them all.
Gospel's Commentary
Today we see how Jesus "triumphs" ("many followed him") in the midst of an environment of rejection. The attitude of the Lord is admirable: in spite of the pain and the setbacks, he "healed them all." A paradox? To transform evil into good: that is Redemption. The prophet Isaiah, some 700 years before, prophesied that "he will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets. A bruised reed He will not break». - At the supreme hour - on the Cross - we find the same reaction: while some insulted him without stopping, Jesus asked forgiveness for all and "healed" the one who asked for help (do you know who he was?).
