Lluís Raventós
Thursday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel text
Mt 7,21-29
«Anyone who hears these words of mine and does not act accordingly, is like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain poured, the rivers flooded, and the wind blew and struck that house; it collapsed, and what a terrible fall that was!».
Gospel's Commentary
Today the "Sermon on the Mount" is over. The marveled crowd listens to Jesus with enjoyment, but some are like some of these bends of the great rivers that descend from the Himalayas: centuries of water running over them, but, however, dry below. Jesus knows that if we do not accept His words, if we do not put them into practice, we can be sure of the failure of our tomorrow life, family and society. —He does not want us to fail, so He strongly insists upon our building on rock. Thank you Jesus!
