Gospel text
Jn 11:1-45
Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out... So Jesus said to them, “Untie him and let him go.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today we can watch an unquestionable signal from Heaven. Lazarus had been dead for the last four days! But for Jesus – Who is Life - his friend was just "asleep". God is the Author of life and Jesus - Son of God - says: "I am going to awaken him.” Some scribes and Pharisees had persistently requested a sign from Heaven to show that Jesus actually originated from God. And there they had it! A spectacular miracle... Did they believe? Did they convert? A week later they were carrying Christ to the Cross. —The definite signal was Jesus Christ’s glorious Resurrection: no one had to set Him free!
