The Sermon on the Mount: "If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me"

The Sermon on the Mount: "If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me"
Thursday after Ash Wednesday
Gospel text
Lk 9:22-25
Jesus said to his disciples: “The Son of Man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed and on the third day be raised.”
Gospel's Commentary
Today Jesus tells us all about His mission: the Son of God has come to this World to save us. He wanted to do this from an uncomfortable, very painful place: the Cross, outside the city of Jerusalem. Indeed, Jesus is there; He is not angry, and He offers that sacrifice to the Father for the forgiveness of our faults. It is an unsurpassable love! - "If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." No shortcuts available when Love is at stake.
