Although Jesus used this figure of speech, the Pharisees did not realize what he was trying to tell them.
Gospel's Commentary
Today, the listeners do not understand Jesus words either. He is explaining something beautiful to them: I am your shepherd and you are My lambs. Christ descended down to earth to help us. He is the good shepherd that knows each one of us, and is guiding us through the right path. He is the door to our salvation.
- Jesus Christ is telling us: "I am your elder brother. I was sent by the Father in heaven to take care of you, His sons. Is it difficult to understand?
